Let Us Wait Together

Hey, if you are on this page it can mean one of two things you are a Christian who is looking for some godly words for the times you in or you are not a believer and you were curious about "waiting together". Either reason, I am happy that you have taken the time to be here. I have been on a series called, Let Us Run Together and it is all about us Christians living life together. There are four aspects of life I found important in my life and they are honesty, community, discipline and time. If you have missed the previous blogs, feel free to go back and read them under Christian Living. This week I want to take some time and talk about the importance of time and how it has helped me in my walk with God.

Since I pride this page on being an honest space, I have to say I am not new to the concept of setting time aside for God, but I am new to the practice. Two months ago I started to wake up at 6 am to do my morning devotions for many reasons but mainly because I was trying to get two hours of devotion in and doing it at 12 pm did not fit into my schedule. In doing so I have learnt a lot from sitting in the dark early morning and just waiting to hear something. There are times wherein my waiting, I have fallen asleep, gotten tempted, gotten distracted but the mornings where I was locked in His presence, my day was great. The reasons that had me fall in love with early mornings are the following

Solitude

I do not know about your household but it is hard for it to be silent in my house. If you are like me well you get distracted with the noise and all the running around in the middle of your devotion or prayer. Waking up early morning has provided me with the privilege of spending time in His presence without having to go in and out of it. It is that time of the day where I know I do not have to hide my tears from those passing by or those asking for a favour.

Expecting Heart and Father

In the last blog, I spoke about the benefit of staying disciplined but I did not mention how being disciplined leads to that new habit becoming natural and you eventually long for that new habit. Connecting that with my devotion, no matter what state of sleep I am in I will always wake up at 6 knowing this is the time to spend with my father. Yes, I am a human and I have plenty of days where I sleep in for an hour but I have to admit my heart feels quite guilty for that hour. It is weird to say but it's as if my soul knows this is her time to pour out her heart to her creator. What I love is when we are expecting from God, He never leaves us empty but He delivers something that we need in that moment or the coming moments.

Learn To Wait

If you have done these early morning devotions, let me know if I am wrong but I have become a tad bit hard-headed in other words patient with His presence. I have learnt to sit and wait for His Presence to join me before getting into the devotion or even during it. One thing I keep telling myself during my morning devotion is "God's Words will not go somewhere to do nothing" Another thing I tell myself is "God's Word cannot do His work if the heart is not willing." With that now, if I am going to wake up at 6 am to spend time with God I will not waste my sleep and come with a closed heart. A big step of that is waiting and not just jumping into bible reading, worship or prayer. Yes, I do have moments where I do it just to get it over with and if you asked me what I read I will not remember but learning to wait for Him has been a big highlight for me.

After typing all this, it hit me "Helene how in the world am I waiting with someone else? Isn't this all about the community?" In all honesty, we are probably not going to physically wait together but the community part comes from us sharing what we learnt. When we wait on the Lord, receive something and share it with our fellow sisters you are helping them in their next wait or you are helping them to go and wait. Our walk with God is very much personal but it also is a journey with other believers where we fellowship and get to strengthen each other. With that, I will very much advocate for every one of us to join a community where we can have life-changing and life-growing conversations that are biblically based. I do look forward to growing this site and placing forums and creating a platform where we can all live life together.

Stay close and talk to you soon!
