Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! Hebrews 12:1
A group of friends and I decided to read through the new testament in 90 days. It is a plan provided on the Holy Bible app, it allows us all to do it together. We read the chapters for the day, and then there is a discussion section where you can jot down your thoughts and the other people can comment on them. It also allows us to see where each other are at, which is hilarious and nerve-racking. If I slack the others know that and so I like the accountability provided in the program. We have not shamed anyone for being 11, 20, 30 days behind or still being on day 1. I know there is going to be a day where the roasting will come but I also know it will be out of love and not a drop of shame, hate or intentionally trying to embarrass one another.
As I was doing my reading, one thing that stood out to me is I am in a race. I am running a race with other runners who are trying to get somewhere but this is not a race of who reaches the end the fastest but it is about who can be persistent. Let me tell you something, I am not a runner so I cannot run fast and my heart definitely cannot carry me through a race but boy was I happy when I learnt that this race is not a race I am doing alone! As I said before, this race that I am on is a race where we are both together and if it is not a race on being the fastest then it is perfectly fine to help each other. This what this whole Christianity section of my page is about, us running this life together.
Progressing in my Christian walk I have learnt a few things that I find have helped me and are helping me on this journey. If I were to be honest I learnt a lot of these during the pandemic and applied most of them at the same time. There are some that a bit harder than the other for me but this race is not about perfection but progression (thanks Mike Todd for that!). As long as we are willing to progress from glory to glory, from crazy faith to crazy faith, from student to teacher and from teacher to student then we good! As I said there are a few things I learnt that have made my walk easy and will make it easier and they are honesty, community, discipline and time
Trust me, I always thought it was the big things that mattered but I have been learning that these four words listed above are the building blocks to the big things we are seeking for and I cannot wait to get into this with you! I will be making a blog, article,a page or whatever you like to call this on each of these building blocks. It would not be right of me to learn on how to run this race anad leave you running by yourself. So girl, (or boy) I am too excited to have a platform where I can share my testimony and learnings with you all and in return learn from you as well.
Looking forward to seeing you soon! Take care.
